vijayawada: Telugu Desam chief N Chandrababu Naidu took a dig at the Congress for bifurcating the State in the ‘most undemocratic manner’.

Addressing TDP ‘Mahila Garjana’ here on Thursday, he alleged that the Congress had humiliated Telugu people while dividing the State. The Congress leaders had also humiliated him without even considering his status as chief minister. He said he had made several rounds in Delhi meeting leaders to get justice to people of both regions.

‘I commanded politics in Delhi with the power given by you. But this time I was humble in meeting leaders seeking justice for both regions. They have not done justice to the regions,’ Naidu regretted. He criticised Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for not respecting him and Telugu leaders.

The TD chief promising to develop Hyderabad-like cities in Seemandhra. ‘I have developed Hyderabad and I can develop more such cities. Only I can do it, believe me,’ he told the gathering. He had walked over 3,000 km and understood people’s problems, Naidu said. He would address all problems on priority. He promised to waive farmers’ loans.

Recalling the formation of SHGs by the TDP government, Naidu pledged to help improve their finances. He accused the Congress of ruining the SHG women’s lives and pushing them into debt trap. He promised to waive SHG loans.

Recalling the assaults/murders of women in the State, he promised to establish a mechanism with senior police officers at district level to provide security. He promised a toll-free number for women to call whenever they were in trouble. He would monitor the number.

The TDP chief promised to continue the struggle to get the Women’s Reservation Bill passed in Parliament. He announced a “pandanti bidda” scheme for supplying nutritious food to pregnant women, if TDP came to power. He promised government-sponsored old age homes. Recalling how Japan was damaged in the World War II and its revival, Naidu said he would develop Seemandhra as ‘Swarnandhra’, using available resources. He was the only leader having proven experience in developing the State.

He assured insurance cover and loans to auto and lorry drivers, enabling them to buy vehicles and constructed houses.

The TD chief promised to complete the Pulichintala, Polavaram projects, Krishna delta modernization and Machilipatnam port, thus contributing to the region’s development.
