Hyderabad: Naidu Asks Party MPs to Improve Hindi Skills, the party MPs to play a proactive role in Parliament and strive to get maximum benefits for the truncated State of Andhra Pradesh.
Hyderabad: Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday called upon the party MPs to play a proactive role in Parliament and strive to get maximum benefits for the truncated State of Andhra Pradesh.
Naidu told the party MPs that they should immediately hire a tutor if need be and learn Hindi so that they could easily communicate with the BJP leaders. Addressing the TDP Parliamentary Party meeting at NTR Trust Bhavan, Naidu said, “If you speak to a person in the language he understands, then it goes to his head and heart. You may succeed with the officialdom with broken English, but to convince the national leaders on the need to give liberal assistance for Andhra Pradesh learning Hindi is very important.”
He told them that the Telangana Congress MPs, who were good in communicating in English and Hindi, had succeeded in putting pressure on the UPA government to bifurcate the State. “In the process, great injustice has been done to Seemandhra and the new government has a herculean task to implement the promises it has made during elections. We need to persuade the Union Ministers to come to our rescue. It is not an easy task to convince the Centre unless we communicate with them in Hindi,” Naidu explained.
Addressing the media after the meeting, the party Rajya Sabha MP CM Rames told reporters that Naidu asked them to improve their Hindi/English language skills to highlight the problems being faced by the residuary Andhra Pradesh in Parliament and also to persuade the Centre to fulfill its promises made to Seemandhra for its overall development. Apart from this, the TDP chief is learnt to have asked his party MPs to hone their communication skills as there is dearth of 'silver-tongued' MPs in the party, who can present a powerful argument on any issue in Parliament. It may be recalled that Naidu, who is not good at Hindi, earlier had tried to improve his Hindi-speaking skills by hiring a tutor in order to fluently converse with leaders from North India.
Naidu also asked his party MPs to spend more time in Delhi henceforth. He told the MPs that he was determined to extract more funds to AP to keep it on the track of development. “You should know what is happening in the corridors of power in Delhi, what new schemes and policies are being worked out so that we can get maximum benefit to develop Seemandhra from scratch,” he stated.
