Rajahmundry: Amid moving scenes, a married woman performed on Friday the last rites for her father here at the Kotilingala port cremation ground on the banks of river Godavari.
Chita Rathod, the elder daughter of Chandrakanth, a local trader, is married with two children. She had been staying in Raipur with the in-laws. She came here following her father’s death due to ill-health. Since the trader did not have a son, Chita took up the responsibility to conduct the last rites for her father.
She fulfilled her father’s last wish that his funeral be conducted on the river bank. Her younger sister Hatisha, residing in Bengaluru, is said to have missed the funeral as she is pregnant.
