Anantapur: “The government is committed to generate employment,” said Minister for IT, Information and Public Relations Palle Raghunatha Reddy. He convened a meeting with the intellectuals and higher officials belonging to JNTU and SKU in connection with setting up the Skill Development Council at JNTU here on Tuesday.

Speaking to the media, he said that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was planning to transform the State into digital Andhra Pradesh. And as part of it, he was striving to enhance the investments in the IT sector to Rs 44,000 crore. Similarly, the government was planning to set up industries in drought-hit Anantapur district in order to provide employment.

Meanwhile, the students gheraoed Palle Raghunatha Reddy demanding him to do away with the illegal appointments that took place in Sri Krishnadevaraya University. However, the Minister left the spot with the help of his security staff.


On learning about his presence at JNTU, students went there and staged a protest and tried to barge into the meeting hall but police stopped them. Finally, they met the Minister and apprised him about the irregularities that took place in the appointments in SKU. They said that an assistant professor was appointed by violating the rules. The Minster lent a patient hearing to their allegation and promised to probe into the misdeeds.

“The government is not leaving no stone unturned to make Andhra Pradesh an It hub by proposing to distribute i pads to DWCRA women and filed level employees in next two years and we would spend Rs 5 crore for this purpose,” the Minister said.

Four G technology would be introduced in order to provide internet facility to every village in the State. “I am very lucky to get a Cabinet berth in the ministry as a minister for IT, he said. The government is planning to generate five lakh jobs in IT sector, while four lakh in electronics sector, he predicted. He reminded that the Chief Minister was well versed in technology, hence, the State would become an IT hub.

JNTU Vice-Chancellor Lal Kishore, Collector Solomon Arokia Raj, SKU Registrar Dasaratha Ramaiah, JNTU Registrar Krishnaiah, former registrar Hemachandra Reddy and others were present.
