Govt school students in RDAQ semis

Tuni: An exciting contest is on at the Reliance Dhirubhai Ambani Quiz (RDAQ 2014) competitions being held across East Godavari district. Two government schools – ZPHS, N Suravaram (Y Satya Rao, P Vandana), Sree Raja Government High School (S Kuladeep, Y Venkata Raju) in the Government Stream and Sri Prakash Vidyaniketan, Tuni (APS Manideep, M Sri Sai Ramesh), Tagore Convent School, Tuni (Ch. Sindhusha, Ch. Keerti Varma) in the Private Stream made it to the semi-finals of the fifth edition of the district-level quiz competition, Reliance Dhirubhai Ambani Quiz (RDAQ 2014), held at Rotary Hall at Tuni on Wednesday.

In a written preliminary round, eight teams were selected. Based on a gripping regional quiz, two teams from the government schools and two from the private schools stream made it to the semi-finals. The semi-finals and the grand finale will be held on December 26, 2014, at JNTU Alumni Auditorium in Kakinada.

Around 200 students from 50 schools from the Tuni division took part in the preliminary quiz competition. There was an increase in participation from government schools with a separate stream of prizes announced for these schools.

Tuni Municipal Commissioner SV Ramana was the chief guest and addressed the students. RIL senior officials DB Prasad, DIG (retd), Head – Security; Pankaj Ballabh, BP; Venkat Reddy, Ramanamurthy, S Vijayasimharao, Subrahmanyam and Ramana Rao were present. ‘Young World’ fame VV Ramanan was the quiz master.

As part of various educational support initiatives under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), RIL, in association with the District Education Department, started the district-level quiz competition to commemorate the 82nd birth anniversary of the company founder chairman Dhirubhai H Ambani on December 28.

The next round of preliminary quiz will be held at Rampachodavaram on December 4 and at Rajahmundry on December 5 before the grand finale.
