Nellore: APCC President N Raghuveera Reddy alleged that the central and state governments were pursuing anti-people’s policies which were also hurting the interests of the poor and the downtrodden. Participating in a dharna along with the former Tirupati MP Chinta Mohan at the RDO’s office in the town on Monday, he lashed out at the central and state governments for their utter lack of concern for the plight of the poor.

In a scathing attack on the TDP government for its failure to implement the promises like loan waiver for the farmers and Women’s SHGs that it made at the time of elections, Raghuveera Reddy said that the farmers and women SHGs were cleverly taken for a ride.

The APCC president said that they would wage a long struggle for the construction of a port at Dugarajapatnam as stipulated in the AP State Reorganization Act. Coming down on the Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu for his total lack of interest in his hometown Nellore, he lamented that the state and central governments, which came to power promising one lakh jobs to the youth every year was throwing people out of jobs now.

Addressing the gathering, Chinta Mohan said that the minorities like Muslims and Christians were feeling very insecure after Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister. He lamented that the state government was acting at the behest of the big industrialists and it was a government for the rich catering to their interests. While the BJP government raised the charges for railways for the lower levels, it reduced the flight charges and this showed that it favoured the rich, he said.

Chinta Mohan criticized the Centre for diluting the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) which was a boon for the agricultural labourers. He lashed out at the YSR Congress Party for its failure in highlighting the faulty policies of TDP and felt that the YSRCP president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy would land in jail for looting public money worth crores of Rupees.

He lauded the former Chief Minister N Janardhan Reddy for keeping his son away from politics while YS Rajasekhara Reddy made his son an MP from Kadapa to loot public money worth crores of money.

Former Zilla Parishad Chairman Chanchela Babu Yadav, Neduramalli Ram Kumar Reddy, Sullurpet Congress in-charge Madhu and others were present.
