Vijayawada: Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu has launched a hunt for a house here in view of his resolve to run administration of State from this new capital city.
Simultaneously, the party leaders are looking for a suitable land to build party office. The office, along with that of NTR Trust, is likely to be located in the proposed capital town of Thalluru. Its adjoining areas may house temporary government offices.
Naidu, who has so far been running the State administration from Hyderabad, is trying to move soon his base to Vijayawada. His move comes in the wake of officials on a regular basis moving government offices from the joint capital of Hyderabad to the City.
Whenever he comes here, the Chief Minister is going back to Hyderabad, even late in the night in the absence of a suitable residence befitting his stature. If absolutely necessary, he is opting to stay in hotels. Naidu is stated to be avoiding the State Guest House after it was declared not suitable by ‘vastu’ experts. He is also keen to avoid problems likely to arise if the State administration is run from elsewhere.
The TDP leaders, under the stewardship of Union Minister Sujana Choudary, are scouting for buildings required for the party. But so far the efforts have not yielded results for the simple reason that such premises are not available in Vijayawada. Hence, they are said to be thinking of securing land, including farm lands and huge sites, and constructing the required buildings, according to the party sources. Discussions are stated to be on to purchase an eight-acre site at Poranki, about 5 km from here, from a big businessman.
The party leaders reportedly feel that the site is suitable for building both the TDP office and residence of Naidu. Location of the site near the Gannavaram airport, besides its proximity to the capital city are said to be advantages, in the leaders’ view. Reports have it that the site has already been acquired by the NTR Trust. However, local party leaders are not confirming them.
