Hyderabad: Burglars struck at the house of film actor Murali Mohan’s son in Jubilee Hills on Saturday night and escaped with gold jewellery worth Rs 6 lakh.

The theft took place at Ram Mohan’s house located at Plot No 92 in Jubilee Hills when the family was away. “Ram Mohan’s friend Thondaman, a Sri Lankan who came all the way from Sri Lanka to attend a marriage found her ornaments missing from her bag,” the cops said, adding that they family returned home on Sunday morning only to find that the valuables were missing from her bag Based on her complaint, police registered a case.

Thieves strike , decamp with gold, silver
Thieves broke into a house of a 37-year-old private employee at Alwal and decamped with about 26 tolas of gold and three kilograms of silver, late on Sunday night.

According to police, K Charan Srujan Kumar, along with his family had gone to attend a function around 9.30 pm on Saturday night when the robbers entered his house.

“The miscreants entered the house of Charan in Venkata Ramana Colony from the rear side of the building. They broke open the main door and committed the theft with ease. They made off with 26 tolas of gold ornaments and three kilograms of silver and some cash kept in the house,” the cops said.

The theft came to light when the family members returned after the function on Sunday morning and found the locks broken. Charan immediately informed the police.

The police rushed to the spot on information. Clues team was pressed into service to lift fingerprints. A case has been registered under Section 457/380 (burglary) of the IPC. Further investigation is underway.

Army jawan killed in road accident
A 27-year-old Army jawan was killed on the spot while his wife and six-month-old baby boy sustained injuries when the motorcycle they were travelling on was hit by a DCM van on Sunday morning.

The accident occurred at Devendra Nagar Colony near Pahadishareef crossroad on Sunday around 8.30 am. When the trio reached near Maisigundi Temple on Srisailam highway on their motorcycle (AP 11 AS 9436), a speeding DCM van (AP07 T 1435) coming from Tukkuguda rammed into the motorcycle from behind. The jawan, K Kranti Kumar, died on spot. His wife, Manjula, and son, Sushant, were rushed to the Osmania General Hospital for treatment. Kranti was a resident of Ravinder Nagar Colony of Falaknuma.

The Pahadishareef police have registered a case against the DCM driver under Section 304 A and 337 of the IPC and took him into custody, sub-inspector K Narsing Rathore said.

869 cases booked for traffic violations
Hyderabad Traffic police booked as many as 869 cases against violators of motor vehicle rules during a special intensive drive conducted in Jubilee Hills area on Sunday. As a part of the drive conducted on Sunday in response to the expressed concerns of the citizens against over-speeding and dangerous driving, patrolling vehicles have been pressed into service around KBR Park, NTR Trust Bhavan and Muffakham Jah College from 11 am to 3 pm.


A total of 869 cases were booked. Out of these, 768 were for over-speeding, 83 for dangerous driving, 7 for without/irregular number plate and 11 for driving without license. Police requested public to adhere to traffic rules.
