The CPI (M) national conference would be held from April 14 to 19 in Visakhapatnam. A new general committee and a general secretary would be elected on the last day of the conference.The conference, being held after three years, would focus on issues of national politics, government’s economic policies, communalism and liberalisation.

The party would also discuss the reasons for expansion of CPI (M) during the last 30-year period. The organisers hoped to bring about a major change in the party leaders after the conference. The CPI (M) politburo, which met in New Delhi in September 2014, decided to hold the national conference in Visakhapatnam this year.
