Hyderabad: Department of Posts, AP Circle will sell Godavari Pushkaram Water (God-Jal) through Post Offices in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana State during the Godavari Pushkarams to be celebrated between July 14 and 25. Speaking to the media on the occasion here, Chief Postmaster General, AP circle, B V Sudhakar said the people, particularly those in far-off places and senior citizens would benefit from the initiative.


The water would be drawn from the Godavari River during the Pushkarams. It would be purified and sold. The task of filtering and purification of water has been entrusted to a company in Rajahmundry. The water would be sold in 500 ml bottles for Rs 20 each. It included home delivery charges, he said.


Sudhakar said AP Postal Circle would set up 14 new post offices in the financial year. The total earnings registered a growth of 29 per cent mainly due to savings bank accounts. He also expressed hope that with the efforts of postal employees, the new revenue target of Rs 1,588 crore could be achieved during 2015-16.

To mark the Godavari River Pushkaralu, various competitions for the school children are planned.Devotees can book for GOD-JAL bottles between June 3 and July 14 at all the branch post offices, Sub-Post offices and Head Post Offices across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana State. Online bookings facility would also be provided through newly developed e-Commerce website www.appost.in/eshop.
