New Delhi: YSRCP president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy has questioned the motive behind the silence being maintained by the TDP on the Special Status to Andhra Pradesh. Addressing a dharna at Jantar Mantar here on Monday, Jagan asked Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, whether he was interested in seeking the Special Status at all.
Despite his party seeking a unanimous resolution in the Assembly demanding Special Status to the State, the latter was reluctant to do so, he alleged. Pointing out that the Special Status was the only way out for AP as it was deprived of any developed zone after the bifurcation of the State or even a capital of its own, Jagan alleged that the Centre was seeking shelter behind technicalities in denying the same to the State. The TDP should explain its stoic silence in this regard, he said.
Instead of fighting for the Special Status that would help AP immensely in its industrial development that could go a long way in providing employment to its youth, the ruling party was “upgrading the financial status of its leaders through blatant violation of norms and rules,” Jagan said.
The Chief Minister had shown greater interest in protecting his interests in the “cash for vote” scam than in securing the interests of the people of the State. He also questioned AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi's sincerity in seeking the Special Status. Jagan asked whether it was not the same Rahul who was responsible for the bifurcation in an unscientific manner that made the people of AP suffer.
