Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu appealed to non-resident Indians, particularly those from the State, to give their skills and time to develop the State. Speaking to the IT professionals, students and NRIs here on Thursday, the Chief Minister said that the State was bifurcated without capital and revenue. “I am struggling to develop the State, provide infrastructure and make the State the best in the country in the next two decades,” he said.
Naidu said that he was working to make AP the top State in India by 2029. However, he can reach the target by 2020 if the IT professionals and NRIs joined him, he said and wanted the professionals to spare at least two hours a day to think about AP development. His government would welcome everyone to come up with innovative ideas for the development of the State, he added
The Chief Minister launched ‘Code for AP’ portal and three programmes that would monitor the security at the secretariat, Central schemes and the movement of government staff who were given tablet PCs. He said that these programmes would make government functioning transparent and answerable to the people.
The Chief Minister also watched a demonstration of ‘Code for AP’ which keeps a tag on tabs being used by the government employees in Ichapuram mandal of Srikakulam district. The demonstration showed that out of the eight tabs given in the mandal, four were being used while the other three were not being used.
The Chief Minister said that the use of tabs and monitoring technology would help make administration accountable to people. Another programme of security would help the officials monitor the people who visit them, thus minimizing the work for the security personnel. The third programme would help the State government monitor the number of Central government schemes being implemented in the State and their current status.
“This would help the State ask for more schemes from time to time,” the Chief Minister added. Naidu thanked the NRIs for developing these programmes and becoming partners in the development of the State. He also asked the NRI team to involve more NRIs in the development of the State.
