Tirumala: The much-awaited nine-day spiritual splendour - the annual Brahmotsavams of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala got off to a spectacular start with the 'Dwajarohanam' fete held in a ceremonious way at the sacred abode of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala on Wednesday.

As the auspicious hours arrived, the sacred yellow cloth with the imprint of Lord Garuda was hoisted atop the Golden 'Dwajasthambham' (temple flag post) inside the hill temple amidst the chanting of the Vedic hymns by a host of temple pundits in the Meena Lagnam between 5 pm and 5.30 pm.

The 'Dwajarohanam' fete was carried out by the chief priest of the Tirumala temple under the supervision of Tirumala Pedda Jeeyar and Chinna Jeeyar Swamijis. The ceremony was later followed by 'Asthanam' to the deities at the Tirumalaraya Mandapam situated inside the main temple complex.
