Lakshmikantham praised the late leader’s sacrifice as ‘invaluable’ and ‘unforgettable’ for achieving Andhra Pradesh following a Gandhian protest of fast-unto-death. The JC recalled Gandhiji’s words that if he had 11 persons like Sreeramulu he would have secured country’s independence in one year. ‘This shows the determination patriotic spirit of Amarajeevi’.

Deputy Director of Social Welfare Rosanna, BC Welfare DD Rama Devi, BC Corporation ED Nagamuni, supervisors in the Collectorate Varadarajulu, Subbayya were present besides several district officials. In her tribute to Sreeramulu, Mayor M Swaroopa described him as an inspirational icon for Telugus. She garlanded his statue. Municipal Commissioner Ch Obulesu, Deputy and Additional Commissioners Ajay Kishore, Krishnamurthy, Health Officer Gangadhar Reddy, Sanitary Supervisor Gangi Reddy, DE Kishtappa, AE Narasimha, Corporators Raja Rao, Dhanalakshmi were present.

In the anniversary observed in JNTU-A, Vice-Chancellor Prof M M M Sarkar, varsity officials and staff garlanded Sreeramulu’s portrait. Sarkar praised Sriramulu’s life sacrifice after a 58-day fast for a Telugu State.

Those present included OSDs to V-C K S R Anjaneyulu, Registrar Prof S Krishnaiah, Directors Professors A Anand Rao, S V Satyanarayana, D Subba Rao, D Rama Naidu, Principal Prof K Prahlada Rao, engineer Narayan Reddy, teaching and non-teaching staff.
