Kurnool: District Collector Ch Vijaymohan on Friday asked the officials of the Animal Husbandry department to initiate steps to prevent shortage of fodder and drinking water for cattle in the next six months, with advance plans.

Addressing a review meeting of the department, he advised the officials to tour 34 drought-hit mandals to assess the shortage of fodder and secure it from other places if found to be severe. He directed them to distribute to farmers the required seeds for growing grass to be supplied to animals and arrange facilities to store drinking water for cattle.

The Collector stated that payment for the tankers to fill water in pits should be paid only after local villagers ascertained the supply. He asked the department officials to attend the gram sabhas during the Janmabhoomi programme to know people’s problems and submit daily reports for finding solutions.

Among those present at the meeting were Animal Husbandry Joint Director Sudarshan Kumar, DDs, AEs, vet doctors and JVOs.
