Drunk railway staffer dies in freak mishap

Kadapa: A railway employee was charred to death in an inebriated condition in a freak mishap at the railway station here on Saturday midnight.

According to Chinthakommadinne SI Kullayappa, B Mastan Babu was working as a watchman at signalling cabin at the railway station.

He was a tippler and attended to his duties on Saturday in a druken state. His wife Saraswathi, who usually brings tea to her husband every day early morning found his charred body on Sunday morning. Immediately, she informed the railway officials who in turn intimated to the police.

The police rushed to the spot and found the body. In their investigation, police confirmed that it was a fire accident. The police found bonfire near the body and they suspected that bonfire lit by Mastan Babu might have spread to the mat on which he was sleeping on the railway station premises, subsequently, he was charred to death. The police conducted post-mortem at the spot and shifted the mortal remains to the government hospital.

The Chinthakommadinne police registered a case and took up investigation.
