The Eastern Naval Command will be conducting five-day IFR rehearsals beginning from Republic Day on January 26. The second edition of the International Fleet Review is scheduled to be held at Visakhapatnam from February 5 to February 8.

​Visakhapatnam: The Eastern Naval Command will be conducting five-day IFR rehearsals beginning from Republic Day on January 26. The second edition of the International Fleet Review is scheduled to be held at Visakhapatnam from February 5 to February 8.

The event would commence with Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu laying a wreath at the War Memorial at RK Beach and the inauguration of the Maritime Exhibition and IFR Village at the AU Engineering College grounds on February 4.

The exhibition is aimed at showcasing innovation, indigenisation, ingenuity and to display the skills of the youth. On February 5, the opening ceremony and a cultural programme will be held at the INS Satavahana Stadium, naval base, where Governor ESL Narasimhan would be the chief guest. The Chief Minister will also take part.

On February 6, President Pranab Mukherjee would embark on INS Sumitra, the Presidential Yacht, and review the fleet of participating Indian and foreign warships. Warships and submarines will steam past the Presidential Yacht. A fly-past by several aircraft and waterfront activities are also planned as part of the Fleet Review.

On February 7, a two-day International Maritime Conference would be inaugurated by Defence Minister Manohar Parikkar on the theme ‘Partnering Together for a Secure Maritime Future’. On the same evening, the city will witness the Operational Demonstration, followed by the International City Parade at RK Beach which would include marching contingents and bands from the Armed Forces, Indian Coast Guard, participating foreign navy contingents and bands along with students of NCC, SCC and school children.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be the chief guest for the Operatonal Demonstration and City Parade. A Joint International Band Concert at the Naval Officers’ Institute on the same day. From February 9 onwards, Indian ships will conduct Passage Exercise with visiting ships.
