Eluru: West Godavari Collector K Bhaskar directed the Joint Commissioner of Labour to take necessary action against the managements which did not pay wages to about 150 technical, non-technical workers for the last four months in the district.

He received representations from the people during the Mee Kosam programme at the Collectorate here on Monday.

Workers from Bioethanol factory of Annadevarapeta in Tallapudi mandal gave a representation to the Collector that they did not get wages for the last four months.

The Bioethanol Agro Industries Limited workers union president Gudapati Ravibabu complained that workers are facing severe hardships due to non-payment of wages. The Collector immediately directed the Deputy Commissioner of Labour Rama Rao to take action in this regard.

Chilukuri Venkatagiri, resident of Kamsaligunta in Unguturu mandal complained that some people were digging up the Polavaram right main canal bund in the village. Another person Kandula Narayanarao and others complained that since an under tunnel to PRMC was not constructed at Gopalapuram mandal, 35 acres of sugarcane and paddy were damaged due to the canal breach and requested the Collector to sanction compensation for the loss.

He directed PRMC officials to take action against these two complaints immediately. Joint Collector P Koteswara Rao, District Revenue Officer K Prabhakar Rao and various department officials participated in the programme.
