Vijayawada: Sri Durga Malleswara Swamyvarla Devasthanam atop Indrakeeladri on Saturday, witnessed huge turnout of students from the city to participate in ‘Vijayee Bhava’ programme organised by the temple authorities. Temple priests decked up the presiding deity Goddess Kanaka Durga as goddess Saraswathi and conducted Sri Maha Saraswati Yagam at Bhavani Deeksha Mandapam between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. coinciding with Sri Panchami.

The temple premises was jam packed with students of all age groups. The students and their parents made a beeline from the early hours to the temple ahead of the ritual to secure ‘pens and sacred threads' which were kept in front of the deity. Temple authorities have made elaborate arrangements by arranging a free bus from Kanaka Durga Nagar to Indrakeeladri for the convenience of students.

Temple EO Ch Narsing Rao said that the ritual was performed to bless students appearing for the examinations. About 35,000 students participated in the programme and sought the blessings of Goddess Saraswathi.
