Vijayawada: The second phase of Pulse Polio vaccination will be carried out at 2572 centres across Krishna district on Sunday. About 10,250 staff is commissioned to look into the programme of pulse polio vaccine administration. The programme will be conducted for a stretch of three days from February 21.

A rally to promote awareness on the vaccination was flagged off by Mayor Koneru Sridhar along with Vijayawada Municipal Corporation Commissioner G Veerapandiyan and Sub-Collector G Srujana among other medical department officials from the Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium (IGMC) here. The vaccine for immunization will be carried out by a door-to-door campaign on February 22 and 23 while there will be facilitating centres on Sunday across several regions.

The aim is to ensure that every infant and child under 5 years of age is administered the vaccine. For the second phase of Pulse Polio on February 21, team leaders across the district were trained to tackle the programme on February 16 successfully, said the Immunisation Officer Dr G Janardhan. Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr Gopi Nayak, District Medical and Health Officer Dr R Naga Malleswari, Regional joint director Dr Shalini Devi, nurses, ANMs, Asha workers and Anganwadi teachers took part in the rally.
