Separate budget for rural women sought
The All India Democratic Women\'s Association State secretary D Rama Devi demanded the ruling TDP government to introduce a separate budget for women\'s welfare and development and formulate exclusive schemes for their economic emancipation. Guntur: The All India Democratic Women's Association State secretary D Rama Devi demanded the ruling TDP government to introduce a separate budget for women's welfare and development and formulate exclusive schemes for their economic emancipation. Addressing a meeting of women organised by local AIDWA unit here on Tuesday, Rama Devi said that women who constitute half of the total adult population are languishing in poverty and under-development.
She said that a separate budget should be envisaged for rural women to experience development and resurrection from stark poverty conditions. She appealed to the Chief Minister to set a precedent in the country on the lines of developmental sub-plans and an exclusive budget for agriculture. She added that the AIDWA units in all districts submitted memorandums to district authorities on their demand for strict implementation of 'Food Security Act' and regular supply of ration rice to all white card holders.
She said that under the pretext of e-Pass system introduced and non-linkage of Aadhar card to e-Pass, ration supply was suspended and about 60 lakh white card holders have been put to inconvenience. The AIDWA State secretary demanded the government to purchase all agriculture produce and also supply the same through ration shops at subsidised prices as part of providing food security to the common man.
She maintained that although the Chief Minister promised to pay the loan waiver amount of Rs 10,000 in three instalments, only one instalment of Rs 3,000 was paid. District secretary M R Devi and other women leaders Umamaheshwari, Aruna and Padma were present.
