Vijayawada: Only four students out of 4,099 qualified medicos scored distinction in the MBBS final year results for the year 2015-16. The results were released by Minister for Medical and Health Education Kamineni Srinivas here at the Dr NTR University of Health Sciences on Friday.

“While 5,094 students from both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have undergone the examinations and 4,099 candidates qualified. About 980 students secured first class and 3,110 passed under second class. The overall pass percentage is 80.4. The results were updated into the university’s website,” he said.

The Minister added Vijayawada super specialty hospital will be constructed with a budget of Rs 150 crore under the Pradhan Manthri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) scheme. ‘’Works for the foundation laying programme will begin very soon as we are contemplating to start construction by the month’s end’’, he said.

Kamineni added that the Vishakha Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS) will serve as the university’s hospital with 9 Out Patient wings. “Research wing, student’s facilities will be equipped at the hospital which will be inaugurated on April 11th. An executive council will be set up at VIMS. Union Ministers M Venkaiah Naidu and Bandaru Dattatreya, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, and other regional leaders of the parties would be present for the eve,” he said.
