Tirupati: The TTD, along with the Endowments Department, will take up the construction of temples at SC, ST and Fishermen Colonies to check the systematic alienation of the vulnerable communities from Hindus society, said TTD executive officer D Sambasiva Rao.

Speaking at the inaugural of a seven-day training being organised by the TTD on `Hindu system of worship’ exclusively for SC, ST and fishermen community here on Saturday, executive officer said that the TTD being the custodian of Hindu Sanatana Dharma, has restarted the programme of training the select members of downtrodden communities from the interior Agency areas in priesthood.

The programme, which was taken up by the TTD’s Sri Venkateswara Employees’ Training Academy (SVETA), was discontinued for two years and was resumed on Saturday. He said the training programme will go a long way in strengthening the spiritual link between the vulnerable communities and the Hindu society at large.

Rao urged the trainees to undergo training in a proper way. "We are ready to construct around 500 temples at SC, ST and Fishermen Colonies, along with the Endowments Department. But without priests, the temples are of no use. So, the TTD is committed to train you all. A separate module of instruction is getting ready to train you in an easy and comfortable manner and it will get ready in next couple of months and the faculty to train you will also be trained exclusively for the purpose,” he added.

TTD Trust Board Chairman Dr Ch Krishnamurthy and TTD executive officer Dr D Sambasiva Rao inaugurated the week-long training programme in which 68 persons hailing from the SC-ST communities from the Agency areas of Visakhapatnam, West and East Godavari, Anantapur and Khammam districts of both the Telugu speaking States are participating.

Describing them as saviours of Hindu Sanatana Dharma, TTD Trust Board Chief Dr Ch Krishnamurthy called upon the trainees to learn the Puja Vidhi with devotion and implement the same in their respective hamlets and stand as a role model to others in their villages. "From today onwards you should stand an example to others in terms of your dress code, manners and devotion in your villages.

With your deeds you should bring back the people who had converted to other religions back into Hindu society. JEO P Bhaskar said, “The TTD is also contemplating to introduce a three-month or six month certificate course for the same to trainees. Our intention is to train you perfectly in priesthood and for this purpose a mere week-long training will not serve. We are planning to introduce a certificate course,” he added.
