Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Y Sujana Chowdary's son Sai Karthik has been booked for rash driving by Hyderabad Traffic Police. The police also seized his Porsche car.

During a special road safety drive conducted last night by traffic cops, Karthik was found driving the vehicle in a "rash" manner between Jubilee Hills Check Post and KBR Park gate here, Banjara Hills Traffic Police Station Inspector N Vidya Sagar said.

"We caught him along with some other motorists during the special drive for different violations," the Inspector said, adding a case was booked on charge of rash driving against Karthik under section 184 (B) of MV Act and the Porsche car was seized. He has not been arrested.

The police booked 13 other motorists also for similar offense and seized several vehicles. On Friday night, the Banjara Hills Traffic Police caught Sai Karthik and four others for participating in car racing at KBR Park.

Several others, who were racing on bikes, were also caught and booked under section 184 (B) of Motor Vehicles Act and their bikes, including the Porsche car was seized by the police.

Speaking to media, Traffic DCP LS Chowhan said a picket was set up at Jubilee Hills after receiving complaints from commuters relating to erratic driving at KBR Park on Friday night, 14 persons were caught for racing.

“Cases have been booked against them and several minors using high-speed bikes for racing were given counselling in the presence of their parents and parents were warned not to give bikes or cars to their minor children.

Union Minister Sujana Chowdary’s son Sai Karthik was also caught while racing at KBR Park road,” said DCP Chowhan. The DCP said noone was arrested, but they were fined and sent to Begumpet Traffic Training institute for counselling for two hours. Since January this year, as many as 1,822 cases of rash driving were booked by the city traffic police.
