Municipal Commissioner Praveen Kumar has directed the Water Works engineering officials to redress any problem relating to water supply, including leakages, irregular as well as erratic supply and bore well repairs within 48 hours from the receipt of the complaint as part of implementation of Summer Action Plan of the Municipal Corporation.

At an urgently convened meeting, Praveen Kumar alerted the officials about fixing motors to pipelines illegally to draw more water. If any such cases came to their notice, he asked them to impose a fine of Rs 10,000. He asked them to deploy more water tankers to supply water wherever necessary in view of severe summer. Official apathy will not be tolerated at any level, he warned.
He also said that a special survey would be conducted on pipeline connections which were not covered under the purview of water tax. An awareness meet would be held in this regard in a couple of days. The Commissioner made an appeal to the general public in all 72 wards to avoid indiscriminate usage of water, which is to be treated as a very precious natural resource.
While holding the meeting, he asked the zonal and engineering officials to educate the public during morning visits to close public taps or own taps inside the house. He urged the public to give information with regard to erratic water supply, leakages and bore well repairs to the toll-free phone No 1800-425-00009 set up at the corporation main office.
