Vijayawada: Depressed with father’s untimely death and mother’s chronic illness, three siblings attempted to end their lives by jumping off a running train in the city on Friday. Two of them died on the spot, while other was rushed to a hospital and until latest reports, remains in critical condition.

Sk Shahin Sultana (21), Sk Parveen Sultana (20) and Sk Rukhia Sultana (22) jumped off a train from Rayanapadu railway station. The sisters were depressed following their father - Sk Rafi’s death. According to the Inspector of Railway Police, C Srinivasa Reddy, Shahin Sultana, and Parveen Sultana died on the spot and Rukhia Sultana received severe injuries.

Shahin Sultana is a post graduate, Parveen completed her engineering and Rukhia Sultana, who is married a month ago, is also a post graduate. The deceased are survived by two siblings, who are married and were settled in Hyderabad and America. The GRP booked a case under Section 174.
