Kirlampudi: A major row over naming Kapu Bhavan as Chandranna Kapu Bhavan is brewing in the state. Taking strong objection to this at a press conference here on Monday former minister and Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham said that while the Chief Minister claims that he was greatly indebted to Kapus and hence he had given even the post of Deputy Chief Minister to a Kapu leader and was taking all necessary measures for their uplift, he should remember that it was Kapus who had made him the Chief Minister.
He said the way the government had named Kapu Bhavans after Naidu had hurt the Kapus and they asking for the withdrawal of the G O naming Kapu Bhavan as Chandranna Bhavan.
Mudragadda also wrote a letter Chandrababu Naidu in this connection. He advised Naidu to remove the notion from his mind that Kapus are slaves and added that self-respect is equal to everyone. He suggested that the Chief Minister not indulge in ploys to divert the actual issue.
He said that Kapu community would feel happy if the state government passes a resolution in the Assembly to include Kapus in the BC list and send it to the Centre for approval.
Referring to the naming of all the schemes after Chandrababu Naidu, he said that Naidu should not feel that he was incarnation of Karna. Making a sarcastic remark, he said at this rate children who would be born in future would be forced to add the name of Chandranna and government employees salaries would be called as ‘Chandranna Jeetham’.
Meanwhile, sensing the anger of the Kapus, the state government had announced that it had no objection to name the proposed Kapu Bhavans and other welfare schemes introduced for the Kapus after any prominent leader of the same community, including Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga Rao.
Earlier in the day, after some prominent Kapu leaders objected to the government proposal to name welfare schemes, proposed for Kapu community, after Chief Minister Naidu,
the CMO issued a statement saying that several ministers were naming the new schemes after the Chief Minister, without taking due consent from him. Hence, the CMO suggested all ministers to get prior approval from it, before naming any new schemes.
