Tirupati: The Government of Andhra Pradesh will install a 115.5 ft tall statue of founder president of TDP and former chief minister N T Rama Rao at Amaravati as a fitting tribute to NTR, who is a symbol of Telugu’s self respect, culture and tradition.

Announcing this at Mahanadu here on Saturday, party national president and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said, “a 115.5 ft tall statue of Rama Rao will be built to mark the 93rd birth anniversary of the leader and the 35th anniversary of TDP.”

Stating that NTR was a messiah for the poor, the Chief Minister said that he made several sacrifices for upholding pride of Telugus. NTR had a vision for elimination of poverty and also brought a revolutionary change in society.

Despite entering politics at the age of 60, NTR became an idol for youth. The statue would be named as Telugu Jathi Atmagowrava Spoorthi. Delegates attending Mahandu welcomed the decision with a thunderous applause.

The Chief Minister announced that the government would soon launch Anna canteens which would supply food for the poor at cheap price as a befitting tribute to Rama Rao. “NTR will remain forever in the hearts of Telugus as a film actor and also as a popular leader,” he said.
