It may be mentioned here that district police have arrested Sangeetha in Kolkata on May 10 on the charges of red sanders smuggling. However, she secured a bail from a court in Kolkata.

Chittoor: A team of police personnel led by DSP Giridhar have left for Kolkata to arrest model turned international red sanders smuggler Sangeetha Chatterjee. According to official sources, District SP G Srinivas had instructed the DSP to arrest Sangeetha and produce her in Chittoor court under tight security.

It may be mentioned here that district police have arrested Sangeetha in Kolkata on May 10 on the charges of red sanders smuggling. However, she secured a bail from a court in Kolkata.

From then on, the district police have been making efforts to arrest Sangeetha for the last two months but failed due to judicial intervention. In fact, Sangeetha was supposed to appear before Chittoor court on three occasions but she secured bail.

When district police arrested Sangeetha in Kolkata they seized bank passbooks and bank locker keys from her. They opened bank lockers in the presence of local police and found 2 kg of gold 1 kg of silver and important documents related to red sanders smuggling.
The district police received information that former model is undergoing treatment at a private nursing home in Kolkata.

They may likely to arrest her by Friday night. It may be stated here that several cases were registered against Sangeetha in Yadamari, Nagari and Gudipala police stations.

When asked to comment whether police arrested Sangeetha or not district police spokesperson said that they did not receive information from the investigating officer who is in Kolkata, till late evening.
