Vijayawada: The Krishna district education department is set to send notices to the unrecognised schools present in the district, in a bid
to improve the quality of education. It has ordered the mandal-level education officers to ensure that those schools served with notices
without delay.

There were 103 schools in the year 2013 that were identified as unrecognised and 140 in the year 2014. In the year 2015, the department
found 105 schools that were continuing operations without obtaining necessary government approvals. Of the unrecognised, almost half
of them are learned to be the unauthorised branches of famous corporate education institutions.

According to the department insider, Unified District Information System for Education (U-DISE) reports have declared that there are 35
schools without permits in the district so far. However, the number will rise after receiving the reports from all the respective institutions.
DEO has already ordered the concerned mandal-level officers to issue notices to the identified institutions, which will also bring out the
latest number.

Generally, the department sends notices to the administrations of unrecognised schools to apply for recognition without fail prior to
beginning the consecutive academic year. If violated, a fine of Rs 10,000 per day is levied and after 10 days, the penalty is levied at Rs 1
lakh per day.
