Contract outsourcing staff of Government General Hospital stage dharna for pending salaries
Addressing the employees at dharna, CPI City secretary K Nagarajan slammed the GGH officials for not clearing salary dues of contract and outsourcing employees despite staging protests on numerous occasions.
,Chittoor: The contract and outsourcing employees of the Government General Hospital (GGH) staged a dharna under the banner of the CPI in front of the GGH here on Monday, demanding the clearance of four-month pending salaries. They warned to go on indefinite strike if the GGH failed to meet their demands including payment of pending wages within 24 hours. The sanitation activities came to a standstill with contract and outsourcing staff
taking part in dharna.
Addressing the employees at dharna, CPI City secretary K Nagarajan slammed the GGH officials for not clearing salary dues of contract and outsourcing employees despite staging protests on numerous occasions.
“It has become difficult for contract and outsourcing staff to make their ends meet with non-payment of salaries,” he added. The CPI leader deplored the indifferent attitude of GGH authorities towards contract and outsourcing staff even though they have been working with commitment for 10 hours in a day for the maintenance of sanitation in and around hospital premises.
Nagarajan further said that the State government should regularise services of contract employees, who have completed seven years of service. He stated that there is no option left for contract and outsourcing employees to go on indefinite strike from Wednesday onwards if GGH officials failed to meet their demands.
On knowing about the dharna, District Collector Siddharth Jain has instructed District Coordinator of Hospitals (DCH) Dr Saralamma to sort out the issue immediately.
The DCH, who was busy in receiving petitions at weekly grievance meeting, held talks with higher officials and apprised them about the dharna staged by contract and outsourcing employees of GGH for pending salaries.
Dr Saralamma assured protesting employees that their pending salaries would be remitted within 24 hours. She made an appeal to them to resume duties. But, the agitating staff said that they would resume duties only after their pending salaries were cleared.
