Amaravati: The government has directed authorities concerned to conduct an inquiry on private practice of 10 doctors working in the primary health centres in the district for violating the government norms.

Stern action would be initiated against them if any irregularities are found.

Director of the Public Health and Family Welfare Aruna Kumari issued orders to this effect on Monday.

She appointed senior medical officer Dr Kameswara Prasad as inquiry officer and instructed him to conduct an inquiry and submit a report. The government is not satisfied with the replies given by the doctors on the memos issued to them.

Dr Vijaya Kumari (Durgi), Dr Ramana Murthy (Mutukuru), Dr Rama Krishna Reddy (Macherla), Dr T Rama Naik, Dr Ratna Manmohan (Krousuru, Dr Sridhar Chand(Attalur),Dr Vijay Kumar, ,(P V Palem), Dr Y Lakshmi,(Gurazala), Dr K Venkata Reddy (Macharam) and Dr M Ravi were allegedly working in private hospitals and violating the government orders.

Based on the report to be submitted by the senior medical officer Dr Kameswara Prasad, the government will take further action. Guntur district medical and health officer Dr T P Padmajarani said: “Based on the complaints against the doctors, the government has ordered for an inquiry on private practice of the doctors’’.

It may be mentioned that the government had conducted inquiry on 19 doctors working in GGH who were running private clinics and some doctors working in the private hospitals and cut three increments to the doctors and issued orders to this effect.

It may be further mentioned that Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas warned that the government would take stern action against the doctors for working in the private hospitals. He warned that the doctors who wanted to do private practice may submit their resignation.
