Vijayawada: Boosting the morale of the personnel, the newly-appointed DGP Nanduri Sambasiva Rao exuded confidence that the State was poised to overcome the hurdles borne out of the State bifurcation with available resources. Addressing a press conference, after assuming charge, here on Saturday, he described the State police force as one of the best in the country.

Acknowledging the loss of key institutes and infrastructural facilities - like AP Police Academy (APPA), Forensic Science Lab - to Telangana, he underscored the need for capacity-building to further strengthen the police force in the State. Outlining his priorities, the police chief said that the emphasis would be laid on improving citizen-centric services and tending to the needs of people.

He also said strenuous efforts would be made to upgrade the 830 police stations in the State by incorporating modern technology.  Referring to his previous assignment as APSRTC managing director, he said he had given priority to digitisation in his earlier role, and said the same would continue in the new capacity for the benefit of people.  

When asked about Octopus and Greyhounds’ services in the State, he said the State was endowed with all kinds of facilities and vowed to improve them further. On cyber crime, he said efforts would be made to strengthen the cyber crime wing to tackle the cases.

He said the State police was fully ready to successfully conduct Krishna Pushkaralu with the help of several senior officials.
