Rear Admiral Narayan Prasad was commissioned as an engineer in the Indian Navy on July 1, 1983, who holds a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Marine) and M Phil (Defence and Strategic Studies). 

Visakhapatnam: Rear Admiral Narayan Prasad took over as the Admiral Superintendent of Naval Dock Yard from Admiral Superintendent Rear Admiral S R Sarma at the Naval Dock Yard here on Thursday.

Rear Admiral Narayan Prasad was commissioned as an engineer in the Indian Navy on July 1, 1983, who holds a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Marine) and M Phil (Defence and Strategic Studies).

The Flag Officer is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Pune and Naval War College, Mumbai and studied Naval Higher Command Course and Senior Defence Management Course.

His shore appointments include General Manager (Refit) at Naval Dock Yard and Principal Director of Ship Production in New Delhi.

His afloat appointments include tenures onboard frontline warships Talwar, Ranjit and Rana and also served as Fleet Engineer Officer of the Eastern Fleet in Vizag.

The admiral is a recipient of Nau Sena Medal for his distinguished service and prior to this appointment, he served as the Chief Staff Officer (Tech) at ENC headquarters and as Project Director at Aakansha, New Delhi.
