Vijayawada: Left parties warned Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu that the people would not excuse him, if he failed to get Prime Minister Modi’s nod for special category status to AP. The CPI and CPM State leaders staged a relay hunger strike at Lenin centre, here on Friday, demanding special status.
CPM State secretary P Madhu, CPI State secretary K Ramakrishna, CPI leader and former MLC Jalli Wilson and other leaders participated in the protest. Speaking at the protest, CPM state secretary Madhu said the Chief Minister was trying to divert people’s attention from the issue which reflects his failure.

Former MLC Jalli Wilson said Left parties were ready to intensify the agitation, if the Centre failed to accord special status. He alleged the Chief Minister had double standards on the key issues of the State as he was keen to nurture his own interests.
CPM State council member Ch Babu Rao said the BJP government was breaching the rights of States and asked the CM to take against Minister for Endowments D Manikyala Rao for making statements against necessity of special status. CPI city secretary D Sankar and other participated.
