Vijayawada: Minister for Water Resources Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao said that the government was taking measures to protect crops across the State. Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday, Uma Maheswara Rao said that water was released to irrigation canals from the Prakasam Barrage with the increasing inflows of flood water from upland areas.

The Minister said about 369 mm of rainfall was recorded during this khariff season against the normal rainfall of 403.90 mm.
It was 121.80 in July against the normal rainfall of 151.30 mm and 88.30 mm rainfall was recorded in the month of August against the normal rainfall of 158.90 mm, he said.
