Prepare proposals for drinking water schemes: Ayyanna Patrudu

Eluru: Panchayati Raj Minister and West Godavari In-charge Ch Ayyanna Patrudu directed officials to prepare proposals to take up major drinking water schemes with a cost of Rs 750 core in the district. He was reviewing the progress of Panchayati raj wing at Zilla Parishad Guest House here on Tuesday with the officials.
The Minister said that the people in summer are suffering from drinking water problem in the district. In view of this, the Panchayati raj wing officials have to take steps to supply water to them. For this, the Minister suggested concentrating on the construction of major-protected drinking water supply schemes for future needs.
Ayyanna Patrudu said that in Gopalapuram, Assembly constituency officials have constructed an Overhead-Service Reservoir (OHSR) on a hilltop and added that people in that area are getting the protected water for several needs. He warned that negligence will not be tolerated in this regard.
Eluru MP Maganti Venkateswara Rao requested the Minister to sanction funds for the damaged roads due to rains in rural areas.
Panchayati Raj Superintending Engineer Manikyam, District Panchayat Officer K Sudhakar and Rural water supply SE Amareswara Rao participated in the review meeting.
