HELP selected for national award for child welfare

The Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India selected HELP, an NGO from Ongole,  for the national award for child welfare, 2015 in institution category.

Ongole: The Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India selected HELP, an NGO from Ongole, for the national award for child welfare, 2015 in institution category. The award will be presented by President at Rashtrapati Bhavan in a special ceremony to be held on November 14. The HELP was established in Ongole in 1993 and was working for the safety and welfare of children and women, who are easily exploitable in the society. The NGO was functioning in Andhra Pradesh and Hyderabad.

The organisation works with an objective to stop child prostitution, trafficking and second generation prostitution. It promotes social justice and social development in relation to issues of crime and victimisation.

NVS Ram Mohan, a senior journalist and secretary of HELP said, “We are happy to say that HELP was selected for the national award for child welfare in institution category for its services in the field of child welfare. The President will present the award in a function to be held on Children’s Day. The award carries cash prize of Rs 3 lakh and a citation.”
