Vijayawada: CID filed a charge sheet at Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court on Monday following the completion of detailed investigation into the Abhaya Gold case. The CID police submitted a 10,000 page charge sheet to the Court. According to CID Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) MV Bhaskara Rao, 23 persons were named as accused in the Abhaya Gold case.

The institution had defaulted on payments to the tune of Rs 174 crore to the depositors and the same was mentioned in the charge-sheet report, said DSP Bhaskara Rao. The DSP further said that 790 acres of agriculture lands, vehicles, buildings and Rs 1.7 crore in cash had been seized. After the detailed investigation, police have identified 3.71 lakh depositors (victims), said Bhaskar Rao. The seized assets would be sold and the victims compensated accordingly, he said.
