Rampa Chodavaram: In order to transform tribal villages as smokeless villages by the end of this month, ITDA Project Officer A Dinesh Kumar has directed the officials on Friday to provide five kg LPG cylinders for tribals free of cost and 14.2 kilogram cylinders for non-tribals for Rs 1,870. The PO conducted meeting with MPDOs, tahsildars, GCC managers, gas agency dealers, Velugu staff and village revenue officials and reviewed the statistics on identification of beneficiaries and grounding of gas connections.
Speaking on the occasion, Dinesh Kumar said it has been identified that 49,162 families have no gas connections as per ration cards. Now it needs to be found out how many people migrated, how many people died and how many people have eligibility for gas connections.
He mentioned that it has been identified that 25,380 families are eligible for gas connections and the inquiry is still going on. He informed that an action plan has been formulated to sanction five-kg cylinders along with gas connection for five villages in a mandal per day.
Stating that gas stove will be given to tribal free of cost as government subsidy, he said that non-tribals have to pay Rs 800 for 14.2 kilogram cylinder along with gas connection and Rs 1,000 for gas stove. Ha made it clear that the distribution of gas connections and cylinders should be completed by the end of this month as per the directions of the district collector.
He explained that details of the indentified beneficiaries should be filled up in given proforma and should be sent to mandal development officers and they will send the details to gas company dealers. He maintained that company dealers will match information with the details that they are having and sanction gas connection.
Currently, the information given by tahsildars, MPDOs and Velugu staff is not matching, hence he directed them to reconcile the information and include in the proforma. He directed that the route map and village-wise distribution schedule should be submitted.
He mentioned that lists should be prepared as per the codes of mandals and public distribution shops and added that Velugu coordinators, VROs and Panchayat secretaries will be in the grounding staff. He made it clear that the awareness should be created to make sure that stove should be fixed very high above the gas cylinder.
