Kakinada: AP SC, ST Commission chairman Karem Sivaji stated that the commission will conduct surprise checks in all 13 districts of Andhra Pradesh over the implementation of SC, ST rule of reservations and also the spending of SC, ST sub-plan funds for overall assessment from June.

Speaking to media persons at R& B conference hall here on Wednesday, he said that the commission will cover government departments, educational institutions and universities of both state and Central government and public sector organisations to oversee whether the rule of reservations meant for SC, STs is being implemented properly and also to check the utilisation of SC, ST sub-plan funds. In this aspect, the commission will also cover police stations to check the investigations pertaining to atrocity cases on SC and STs.

Speaking on this, Sivaji said that the commission responded immediately in the recent gang rape incident of a tribal woman in Chintapalli area in Visakhapatnam district and directed the government to pay Rs 8 lakh towards compensation and to allot 3 acres to the victim.

Speaking on the issue of Satyam Babu, the chairman said that he had fully supported the High Court’s judgment and expressed concern over the injustice done to Satyam Babu during the previous regime in Ayesha Meera murder case.
“On the part of the commission, we provided house site, assistance for construction of house and employment to Satyam Babu,” he said.

He said that the commission had recommended for Rs 10 lakh compensation from Andhra Pradesh government and a letter was addressed to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in this aspect, Sivaji said.
