Tirupati: The temple authorities at Srinivasa Mangapuram observed mock ‘Hunting Festival’ which is popularly in Agama language as ‘Paruveta Utsavam’ with religious fervour on Saturday.

The temple management of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has made all arrangements for the successful conduct of the event. The deity was taken in a procession to the ‘Parveta Mandapam’, located 5 km from the temple on Srivari Mettu route.

As the purpose is ‘hunting’, the processional deity (Utsava Vigraham) is made to wield all of His weapons. As the unique festival started, the priests performed the mock hunt festival by throwing a spear on replicas of wild beasts, on behalf of the Lord.

TTD Tirupati Joint Executive Officer Pola Bhaskar took part in this mock hunting fete. Devotees participated in this unique festival with enthusiasm and cheered the officers and priests when they enacted the hunting by throwing weapons on the replicas of wild beasts.

Later speaking on this occasion, Tirupati JEO said, the temple management has started this festival on the lines of Tirumala in 2015. "After seeing the serenity of the premises here, we are now contemplating to start Karthika Vanabhojanam also in the ensuing auspicious Karthika month after discussing with our Executive Officer Anil Kumar Singhal.” Deputy Executive Officer Venkataiah and AEO Dhanajeyulu were also present.
