Vijayawada: Acharya Nagarjuna University (ANU) has been spruced up to host the 57th Inter-State Senior National Athletic Championship at the newly constructed blue granule synthetic track. All the states are taking part in a four-day mega event from Saturday. Many national and international players will display their sporting talent and skill in the biggest tournament hosted by the government after bifurcation of the state.

In all, 29 Asian Championship medalists, along with a 125-member Indian contingent, has already arrived at the ANU to participate in the four day event. For the first time, synthetic track is being used for the senior nationals in the state. This type of Blue Granule Synthetic track is used all over the world by sports associations.
Athletic Federation of India (AFI) secretary C K Valson visited the ANU and inspected the newly constructed synthetic track and expressed happiness over the standard of the track.
Blue synthetic track will help the players to produce the best results because this type of track is being used in all countries, he said. Athletics Indian coach Bahadur Singh also inspected the track and expressed his pleasure.
According to Andhra Pradesh Athletic Association (APAA) secretary AV Raghavendra Rao arrangements were completed for conducting the Athletics Senior Nationals at ANU. Minister for Youth Services and Sports Kollu Ravindra, Ministers P Pulla Rao and N Anand Babu will inaugurate the championship.
He further said that for the first time in the state, 2,000 lux capacity flood lights are being used for the prestigious championship. Dronacharaya and Arjuna award winners would take part in this tournament, he added.
