World Bank team’s 4-day tour in capital region begins today
A four-member inspection panel of the World Bank is scheduled to visit capital villages from Wednesday for four days and will interact with the capital farmers in the wake of complaints of irregularities in the AP government’s proposals seeking to raise an aid from the World Bank for the capital project.

Amaravati: A four-member inspection panel of the World Bank is scheduled to visit capital villages from Wednesday for four days and will interact with the capital farmers in the wake of complaints of irregularities in the AP government’s proposals seeking to raise an aid from the World Bank for the capital project.
According to information, the team will be divided into two groups and complete the task. A public interaction will be arranged at Nelapadu on the first day. The Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) is facilitating the visit.
A section of farmers reportedly complained to the World Bank, raising objections over acceptance of the proposals for the aid. They said it is inappropriate for the World Bank to clear the loan proposals without taking up the social impact assessment, environment impact assessment and relocation and rehabilitation package to the capital project victims.
They asserted that the proposal to build capital in the floodplains of the Krishna river was a serious threat to the river ecology and environment.
The complaints were lodged at a time when the World Bank in principle accepted the AP government’s proposal.The state government is also vigorously knocking at the doors of external aid agencies in China, UK for the capital project, besides Rs 7,000 cr from the HUDCO.
