Dhone (Kurnool): The CPI and CPM cadre staged a protest at the Collectorate here on Wednesday, demanding to fill 106 ponds with the water of Handri-Neeva Sujala Sravanthi (HNSS).
CPM State leader T Shadrak said that Kurnool is reeling under severe drought consecutively for the last four years. Even, the people of the region are struggling to quench their thirst and no irrigation due to lack of water.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister KE Krishnamurthy are announcing that they will provide water to Rayalaseema region for drinking and irrigation needs. Even, the Chief Minister has assured that he will make Rayalaseema into green belt and save every acre of crop from withering, he stated.
He flayed the TD government for not fulfilling the promises in the last three-and-a-half years. The Left party leaders warned to intensify agitation if the government fails to fill the ponds with HNSS water.
