Vijayawada: The diploma holders in the Animal Husbandry department, under the banner of Andhra Pradesh Pashusamvadraka Polytechnic Pattabadrula Sangam, staged dharna at Dharna Chowk in city on Thursday demanding the government to fill vacant Veterinary Assistant posts in the Animal Husbandry department. Later, they launched relay hunger strike in support of their demands.

  • They demand filling up of 700 vacant Veterinary Assistant posts in Animal Husbandry department
  • The diploma holders also demand that they may be given admissions in BVSc course

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the association state president M Gangaiah has said that there are 700 Veterinary Assistant posts which have been vacant for the past 7 years. If the government fill the posts, they will get jobs, but the government is not showing interest to fill the vacancies.

He demanded that those who have studied Diploma in Animal Husbandry course should be given eligibility to study BVSC course. He said, at present the diploma holders in A.H. course are not eligible to study any degree courses and added that it is not justified. He elaborated that those who want to study further courses are studying Intermediate and doing other degrees.

He reminded that the Sri Venkateswara University, decided to recruit diploma holders in A.H. as Veterinary Assistants and mentioned it in the minutes book; but after that the university did not take any action.

The association general secretary K Nirmala demanded the government to fill Veterinary Assistant posts through written examination and if the government did not respond, they will intensify the agitation.
