The Central Crime Station (CCS) police arrested 8 traders and seized Rs 5 lakh worth 673 sachets of gutkha from them on Wednesday. The accused were identified as S Kishore Kumar, G Mallikarjun, J Sudhakar, K Rajasekhar, P Mohan, G Venkata Sesadri, C Venkata Rajasekhar and B Sudhakar.

Nellore: The Central Crime Station (CCS) police arrested 8 traders and seized Rs 5 lakh worth 673 sachets of gutkha from them on Wednesday. The accused were identified as S Kishore Kumar, G Mallikarjun, J Sudhakar, K Rajasekhar, P Mohan, G Venkata Sesadri, C Venkata Rajasekhar and B Sudhakar.

According to the CCS DSP M Bala Sundar Rao, CCS policemen along with II, III and IV Town Police personnel conducted raids, on a tip-off, at various places in the city and arrested 8 traders, who were supplying banned gutkha sachets to retail shops.

Th DSP said police seized 265 packets of gutkha and nabbed three persons under II Town police station limits, 122 packets of gutkha and nabbed two persons under III Town police station limits, and 286 packets of gutkha and nabbed three persons under IV town police station.

He also appealed to the people to inform to the police through Whatsapp number 9390777727 about illegal trade of gutkha. Bala Sundar Rao announced rewards to the police personnel for arresting gutkha traders.

The DSP warned that they would take stern action against the traders, who sell banned gutkha sachets. CCS Circle Inspectors K Chenchuramaiah, Babi John Saida, Sub-Inspector Sk Sharif and other police personnel were present.
