Vijayawada: Minister for Industries, Food Processing and Agri Business N Amarnath Reddy said on Wednesday feedback from entrepreneurs on service delivery mechanism and government policies is vital to increase the quality of service on ‘Ease of Doing Business’ in the state.

He addressed the entrepreneurs of four districts Krishna, Guntur, West Godavari and Prakasam at Berm Park in Bhavanipuram on Wednesday. The department of industries, Government of Andhra Pradesh, conducted one-day interactive session with the entrepreneurs of four districts on ‘Ease of Doing Business.’

Secretary of Department of Industries Salman Arokia Raj presided over the session. Addressing a gathering, the Industries Minister said Andhra Pradesh ranked first in the country, along with Telangana, in implementation of ‘Ease of Doing Business’ in 2016 and hoped that the state would retain its position in 2017 also due to 24x7 power supply, infrastructure and policies of the state government.

The Minister said state has abundant scope for development of food processing industry, integrated food parks with vast production of vegetables and horticulture crops in the state.

He said only 10 per cent of the food is processed in the state and felt it should be increased. He informed that the subsidy of Rs 1,072 crore already released to micro, small and medium enterprises in the state this financial year and would release more to give boost to industrial development in the state.

He asked the entrepreneurs to give feedback on functioning of various government departments to improve service delivery mechanism. He said the government is striving to attract more investment.

Commissioner of Industries Siddharth Jain made a PowerPoint presentation on ‘Ease of Doing Business’ in the state and efforts taken by the state government for the past two years to bring radical changes on implementation of Single Desk Portal in industries department.

He said departments like Pollution Control Board, electricity, factories, labour, local bodies, stamps and registrations will sanction permissions in 21 days for setting up of industries due to implementation of Single Desk Portal system.

He said online system is useful and entrepreneurs can get permission for setting up of industries without visiting any government office. He said 98 per cent of the applications submitted online for permissions cleared by the industries department in two years.

Secretary of Department of Industries Salman Arokia Raj explained the steps taken up by the state government in two years to reach top position in the country in Ease of Doing Business.

He said entrepreneurs are the backbone of economy and the state government would extend cooperation in the state for promotion of industries. Officials from AP Pollution Control Board, industries, labour, factories and other departments attended the one-day interactive session.

After attending the interactive session at Berm Park, the Minister Amarnath went for a boat ride conducted by the department of industries in Krishna river. Higher officials of industries department, Pollution Control Board accompanied the former. The Minister, along with officials, released a book published on ‘Ease of Doing business’ on the occasion.
