Ongole: The chairperson of Andhra Pradesh Women Commission, NannapaneniRajakumari, here on Tuesday, faced the ire of the people who lost their beloved family members in the Sunday’s boat mishap.

She visited the homes of the deceased to offer condolences and offer moral support to their kin. She expressed grief and consoled the bereaved family members and said that the government will offer all support to them.

At NGO Colony, she consoled the daughter of SayaniKotewswara Rao and Venkayamma. Srilakshmi, daughter of the deceased couple, said that if the officials had taken stepsnot to permit the people to board the boat she would not have lost her parents.

The chairperson tried to convince her that the officials tried to stop the people, but they boarded the boat without knowing whether it has permission to operate or not that too at a cost of Rs. 300 per ticket.

This irked many relatives of the deceased and theyentered intoarguments and said that the officials at the PunnamiGhat encouraged the people to board the boat and didn’t stop them. They alleged it is a complete failure of the government that cost the lives of their beloved. The onlookers pacified the kin and asked Rajakumari to convey the government to set stringent rules.

Later, Rajakumai visited the families of DevabhaktiniLeelavati, Jetty Prabhakar Reddy and the couple K Anjaneyulu and Venkataramana and offered condolences. The member of women commission TammisettyRamadevi, ICDS PD M Sarojini, Ongole Tahsildar Chiranjeevi, TDP president of Ongole town T Aruna and others accompanied in the tour of Rajakumari.
