Visakhapatnam: Elaborate arrangements have been made for the annual festival of Lord Anantha Padmanabha Swamy deepotsavam (lights fest) at Reddipalli village of Padmanabham mandal in the district on Friday.

Anantha Padmanabha Swamy temple is the second one in the country after the shrine temple located in Kerala. Every year, at the ending of the Karthika Masam (mostly in November), the deepotsavam festival is being observed by the thousands of devotees. The temple was located on the thick green hillocks in the village with no proper ghat road.

The devotees by climbing the 1,286 rock cut steps and lit the earthen lamps on every step. According to sources, devotees from Godavari districts, Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam and Odisha state will come to deepotsavam. Observing the day long fast, the devotees will trek the hill by chanting Lord Vishnu 'sthotras'.
